Assistant Directors

Press down, shaken together and running over... The Sitting Stone has been blessed again. Writer, Actor, Director, Producer Don Sherow has signed on as the Assistant Director of Sitting Stone. He is currently the Theater Director at Towers High School in Atlanta. Don is a graduate of Tuskegee University and former faculty there as well.

Bio

Don C. Sherow has served as educator, musician, singer and composer in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Virginia and New Jersey and has been an ordained minister for over thirty years. Having begun writing music as early as junior high school, Don has been influenced by a variety of music, from gospel to classical.

Don served on the boards of directors of Dawn Treader Christian School of Paterson, New Jersey and Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. 

Don is the writer, director and producer of two musicals: Something to Sing About and On the Wings of Praise originally performed by United Voices Gospel Choir of Gloucester Virginia and has written over 150 pieces, including songs for vocalists and choirs as well as solos and ensembles for instruments. He is currently completing his first CD, “Rivers of Love,” which will be released the Spring of 2011. This is an easy listening set of pieces which has the ability to relax, heal and inspire.

Don boasts of a revival in classical music, in both the Christian and secular realms and dedicates his “Christian classical” collection in memory of Rufus B. Anderson, well-known organist and leader of the R&B/Jazz group, the East Texas All-Stars. Don attributes his early musical guidance to this “mentor and friend,” the title of one his jazz instrumentals.

Don began his acting/directorial career working as a lay counselor at the Richmond County Correctional Facility in Augusta, Georgia. He is the script editor for and an actor The Heart of a Single Mother, the national production which debuts in the spring of 2011. He is currently a teacher of Drama and literature in DeKalb County Schools in Georgia and is Acting Coach, Script Director, and board member of Diamond Pieces Entertainment, Atlanta. Georgia.

Don’s favorite slogan about himself is “All that you see good is God; the rest is me.” This highlights his deep love for God and true understanding of himself, the 



actors he directs, and the audiences he serves.
